Our Legacy:

Founded in 2023, Rosenthal Fire Mitigation is the culmination of a legacy deeply rooted in the timber industry and a love for the great outdoors. Growing up surrounded by the industry’s nuances, we experienced the forests both in their grandeur and vulnerability. 

Community Commitment:

Our journey includes a significant chapter in community service. For 22 years, we proudly operated Redwood/Leggett Valley Mercantile, serving our community’s needs and supporting local endeavors. Scott, currently serving in year 20 as a commissioner of the Leggett Valley Fire Protection District, we continue our commitment to public service, ensuring the safety and well-being of our neighbors.

From Grocery Store to Fire Mitigation:

In February 2023, we transitioned from the grocery business and timber industry to embark on a new venture: Rosenthal Fire Mitigation. Fueled by a passion for environmental stewardship and proactive fire prevention, this move signifies our dedication to addressing the urgent need for wildfire fuel removal in California’s forests.

Our Team:

The heart of Rosenthal Fire Mitigation lies in our dedicated team. Comprising a US Marine, the Assistant Fire Chief of our volunteer fire department, and volunteer coaches for youth sports, each team member shares our belief in service to community and country. Together, we bring a collective effort to make our community a safer, better place. We take great pride in employing locals, thereby helping to  reinvest into our communities.

Our Values:

Our work is guided by a set of core values, built on 30 years of timber industry and forest knowledge. We stand as the sole business in our region creating and adapting machinery to thin and treat forest understory, employing a patent-pending cable extraction system. This innovative approach allows us to navigate steep and inaccessible terrains with minimal impact on the environment.

Scott and Melissa Rosenthal – Founders:

As the driving force behind Rosenthal Fire Mitigation, Scott and Melissa bring a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the forests of Mendocino County. Scott, with a childhood spent in Hale’s Grove, developed a love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and exploring the vast landscapes that would later become the focus of our fire mitigation efforts. Melissa, rooted in a 4-generation Leggett Valley timber family, shares a passion for environmental stewardship and community service. Together, they lead the charge in redefining the landscape of fire prevention.

The Commissioner:

Scott Rosenthal serving in his 20th year as a commissioner of the Leggett Valley Fire Protection District and was recently named President of the Board of Commissioners. This role reflects his ongoing dedication to ensuring the safety of our community.

Our Dedicated Crew:

Our team is not just a collection of employees; each member is an integral part of the fabric of our local area. With backgrounds ranging from military service to volunteer firefighting and coaching youth sports, our crew is united by a common belief in service to community and country. We are proud to have an Army Veteran, the Assistant Fire Chief of our volunteer fire department, and coaches for youth football, basketball, and baseball on our roster. Their commitment extends beyond the workplace, making our community a better place for everyone.
